Interns are often pictured to be the people getting coffee or making copies, but lucky for me, I’ve found an internship where I can get coffee WITH the directors,co-founders and most interesting–the musicians! What I mean to say is, I am truly involved in the process–and for that I am grateful. I’ve been interning at On Site Opera for three weeks, and I know I’m learning a lot. As an incoming freshman at Ithaca College School of Music, going for vocal performance, I can say that finding an opportunity to be involved in an opera company–to the extent that I am being given–is not very typical (or easy for that matter). On Site Opera has given me the chance to see–and be a part of the behind-the-scenes process of producing an opera.
Lately, I’ve been working on conducting interviews with the cast members! The first interview is today with Ginny Weant, a fellow soprano who recently graduated from Mannes with her masters in Vocal Performance, (read more about Ginny here: osopera.org/cast/ginny-weant/). The interview will be live on snapchat at noon, and uploaded to our OSO’s facebook and Instagram soon after!
Exciting things to come–stay tuned!
