Jeni Houser

In the 2019-20 season, Jeni Houser makes debuts at the Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera, New Orleans Opera, and Dallas Opera, all as the Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, with additional performances at Dallas Opera as the title role of The Golden Cockerel. She also returns to Madison Opera as Eurydice in Orpheus in the Underworld. Last season, she debuted with the Wiener Staatsoper as Franzi in the world premiere of Staud’s Die Weiden and Kentucky Opera as the Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte and returned to Madison Opera as Anne Egerman in A Little Night Music.

Previous performances for Ms. Houser include Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos (Austin Opera); further performances of Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos and Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, and the Charmeuse in Thais (Minnesota Opera), Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte (Cincinnati Opera, Central City Opera), Amy in Adamo’s Little Women  and Olympia in Les contes d’Hoffman, (Madison Opera), Johanna in Sweeney Todd (Mill City Summer Opera, Madison Opera), Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore (Opera Saratoga), Susanna in Marcos Portugal’s Le nozze di Figaro (On Site Opera). During two summers with the Glimmerglass Festival, Ms. Houser sang Königin der Nacht in the young artist performance of Die Zauberflöte and Najade in Francesca Zambello’s new production of Ariadne auf Naxos, in addition to covering Cunegonde in Candide. Her concert performances include Orff’s Carmina burana with the Madison Symphony and Las Vegas Philharmonic.
