SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM ON SITE OPERA The global impact of COVID-19 has hit every sector of the economy and every facet of our lives. The impact on the performing arts industry has been staggering and we will feel the effects in the weeks, months, and likely the years ahead. We are heart-warmed to see the tremendous show of support from within and without the opera community as artists and arts organizations seek innovative ways to share, teach, create, perform, and survive during this unprecedented and indefinite period of isolation. We encourage artists to keep creating and we will continue to share resources to help you find your footing. We encourage our audiences and patrons to continue supporting the arts as a bedrock of our cultural identity and societal strength. At On Site Opera, we have daily conversations internally to consider how best to fulfill our mission, serve our artists and audiences, and innovate within the opera art form in the immediate and long-term future. To begin, we welcome you to join us through virtual opera-based activities until we can gather together again for live performances. Please see below to learn what we are doing these days… |
LIVE “WATCH PARTIES” & VIDEO STREAMING OF OUR PAST PRODUCTIONS!
Starting in mid-March, On Site Opera invites you to join us for weekly live-streamed “watch parties”, followed by a live Q&A with the artists. These archival videos will remain on our company’s YouTube page for public viewing through the end of June.
INDUSTRY Q&A Sessions
Since we have been sheltering in place, our Artistic Advisory Council has been meeting virtually each week to share their perspectives of how this global crisis is affecting the opera field.
As a result of these weekly discussions, the Council will host a series of Industry Q&A Sessionss via Zoom to discuss each aspect of the opera-making process with peers across the field.
VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE
Thursday, March 19 @ 11am – 12pm EST
The On Site Opera team hosted a virtual “town hall” style meeting, welcoming opera artists and audiences alike to discuss how COVID-19 has already impacted individual artists, opera organizations, and audiences.
ONLINE COACHINGS
On Site Opera’s General & Artistic Director, Eric Einhorn, hosts free 45-minute vocal coachings for opera singers who want to continue working on their rep or dive into new material while practicing social distancing.
UPDATE: It turns out this is a very popular option! We will add more coachings if/when possible.
VIRTUAL VENUES
On Site Opera has produced immersive opera experiences in more than a dozen unique spaces throughout New York City – and beyond! Since the closure of many venues due to COVID-19, several of our past partners are now offering virtual tours, classes, and explorations of their spaces online. We invite you to explore these spaces and revisit some of your favorite On Site Opera memories!
