Eric K. Washington
Eric K. Washington is an independent historian, Columbia University Bundles Community Scholar and a licensed New York City tour guide. He is author of the books, Boss of the Grips: The Life of James H. Williams and the Red Caps of Grand Central Terminal, which was awarded the Herbert H. Lehman Prize for Distinguished Scholarship in New York History, and Manhattanville: Old Heart of West Harlem. He has written exhibit scripts for the National Civil Rights Museum (Memphis, Tennessee) and the City College of New York; as well as print and digital guided tours of Harlem and Trinity Church Cemetery (Uptown). Eric’s public interpretive signage in West Harlem Piers Park was part of the team design that won the Municipal Art Society’s 2010 MASterworks Award. Eric has also been the regular season host for the Harlem Chamber Players since 2014. He is currently a board member of BIO, the Biographers International Organization.
