Shaina Martinez
Shaina Martinez (she/her), is a lyric soprano whose repertoire includes Violetta (La Traviata), the title role of Viardot’s Cendrillon, Gianetta and Adina (L’Elisir d’Amore), Cio Cio San (Madama Butterfly), Susannah (Susannah), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte), Donna Elvira and Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Saffi (Der Ziegeunerbaron), Salud (La Vida Breve), Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Marie (La fille du Régiment), and Prince Charmant (Cendrillon). She has performed with companies including West Bay Opera, Opera Maine, Vero Beach Opera, Florida Grand Opera, MassOpera, Lighthouse Opera Company, The In Series, and City Lyric Opera. She is a National Semifinalist of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and Concert Artist Guild. She has won awards from the Gerda Lissner Foundation, Loren L. Zachary Society, Elizabeth Connell Prize, Opera Birmingham Vocal Competition, SAS Performing Arts Co., National Society of Arts and Letters, Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition, Vero Beach Opera’s Rising Star Competition, Russell C. Wonderlic Competition, Talents of the World International Competition, Opera NEO Voice Competition, the Washington International Competition, the XXI Concurso Internacional de Canto Lirico and Alan M. & Joan Taub Ades Competition. A celebrated recitalist, Ms. Martinez’s love of art song has led to performances including Joaquin Turina’s Poema en forma de canciones with the MSM Symphony Orchestra, performing with Craig Rutenberg in Opera America’s Emerging Artist Recital Series, and numerous recital tours across the country as the winner of the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Competition. Young Artist Programs include: Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance, Grant Park Music Festival’s Project Inclusion Fellowship, The Thirteen Vocal Fellowship, and Florida Grand Opera. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from University of Maryland and a Master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music.
