Music + Memory: Panel Discussion

The Interchurch Center
Tickets

On Site Opera’s upcoming world premiere of Lucidity by Laura Kaminsky and David Cote explores the complex relationship between music and memory as a group of artists participate in a music therapy trial. What causes memories to be associated with music? Why do certain tunes or melodies stimulate memory recollection? What explains the remarkable power of music therapy for individuals experiencing memory loss? In this panel discussion, legendary singer Renée Fleming and neuroscientist Dr. Michael Shadlen join creators Laura Kaminsky and David Cote in a conversation to explore these questions, and more. The evening will include a performance of excerpts from Lucidity as a sneak preview before the world premiere later this fall.
