Jason Wirth
“One of the finest collaborative pianists I have heard” as well as “an impressive musician in his own right” (NY Concert Review), Jason Wirth (he/him) is the pianist for the New York Philharmonic Chorus and was the founder of the Modern Opera Company. Jason’s recording of Poulenc’s The Story of Babar with film star Michael Douglas has been released on Naxos. He has worked as a pianist and coach for the Metropolitan Opera, Sante Fe Opera and the American Ballet Theatre, among many others. He has conducted and music-directed a wide range of shows, including Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah and Verdi’s Rigoletto (Lighthouse Opera), as well as Jake Heggie’s Into the Fire (New Camerata Opera). Jason is also a passionate advocate for the music of today, having participated in numerous workshops for new works with Arizona Opera, American Lyric Theatre and the Center for Contemporary Opera; “Jason Wirth [spun] a gossamer web of unusual sounds on the piano” writes the New York Times about one of his contemporary music performances. Jason is an alum of the Mannes School of Music and Yale School of Music and currently lives and works in New York City.
