Alexandria Crichlow
Bajan – African American Soprano Alexandria Crichlow (she/her) is known for her captivating stage presence and smooth timbre. Alexandria received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Morgan State University and a Master of Music in Opera Performance from Mannes School of Music, where she studied with Margaret Lattimore.
In 2019 Alexandria’s portrayal of Maria in the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra production of Porgy & Bess (Baltimore, Maryland) under the direction of Marin Alsop paved the way for her return to the role in the Philadelphia Orchestra’s 2020 live CD Recording of Porgy & Bess Highlights at the world-renown Kimmel Center (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania).
She is an honored recipient of multiple grants and competitions, including the Michael Sisca Award and the Marian Marcus Wahl Memorial award. First prize winner in The National Association of Teachers Maryland District Competition and The National Association of Negro Musicians Maryland Chapter’s Marian Anderson Vocal Competition.
Alexandria’s oratorio and role credits include Handel’s Messiah with DC Strings Workshop, Fiordiligi (Così fan Tutte), and the Title role Suor Angelica with Mannes Opera. Lauretta(Gianni Schicchi), Suor Genovieffa(Suor Angelica), with Berlin Opera Academy’s Opernfest, Kandersteg, Switzerland. La Zelatrice (Suor Angelica) with Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Maiori, Italy. Alice Ruth Moore (Lyrics of Sunshine and Shadows) with Morgan State University Opera Workshop Program. She looks forward to making her Czech Republic debut with OpernFest Prague for their 2022 – 2023
