Ashley Emerson
With her sparkling voice and stage presence, soprano Ashley Emerson has been described as a “vocal and dramatic delight.” In the 2018-2019 season, Ms. Emerson performed the role of Laura Fleet in the North American premiere of Nico Muhly’s Marnie, Brigitte in Iolanta, and reprised the role of Papagena in The Magic Flute, among others. Ashley has sung over 190 performances at the Met, with additional roles including Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore, Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, and the Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel.
In the 2016-2017 season, she was heard as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel with the Seattle Opera, sang Cunegonde in Candide with Opéra National de Bordeaux and the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, and reprised the role of Flora in The Turn of the Screw with the Dallas Opera, which she has also sung at the Los Angeles Opera under the baton of James Conlon. Other roles for which Ms. Emerson has garnered acclaim include Sister Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites (Washington National Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis), Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail (Tanglewood Festival, Pittsburgh Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera) Marie in La fille du Régiment (Opera Theater of St. Louis, Opera Maine, Greensboro Opera) and the Maid in Powder Her Face (Opera Philadelphia).
Future engagements see returns to The Metropolitan Opera and a debut with Opera Omaha.
