Dominic Armstrong
Dominic Armstrong has established himself as an artist of superb musicality and characterization. Last season, Dominic joined the Syracuse Opera singing Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth; directed by R.B. Schather, the Florida Orchestra for Michael Tippett’s The Child of Our Time, the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra for an opera gala concert, and the Portland Symphony to sing in Rachmaninoff’s The Bells. He participated in a tour of the US with the Curtis on Tour and toured southern France to perform Cavaradossi in Toscawith the conductor Emmanuel Plasson.
In recent seasons, Dominic has been seen in site-specific and traditional performances with Hudson Hall as Jo the Loiterer in The Mother of Us All, the Los Angeles Opera and the Center for Contemporary Opera in a double bill of two Gordon Getty one-act operas, Usher House and The Canterville Ghost, as both Edgar Allen Poe and Duke Cecil of Yorkshire. With Opera Colorado, Mr. Armstrong debuted and created the role of Dimmesdale in Lori Laitman’s The Scarlet Letter, the recording is available on the Naxos label. He also performed with the Miami Music Festival portraying the role of Siegmund in Die Walküre, and appeared as Don José in Carmen with Dayton Opera.
Upcoming projects will include a return to Don José with Kentucky Opera, a performance Janacek’s The Diary of One who Disappeared with pianist Joel Harder and The Brooklyn Art Song Society, and Benjamin Britten’s Serenade for Horn and Strings with the Sinfonietta of Riverdale and Maestro Mark Mandarano.
