Eric McKeever
American operatic baritone Eric McKeever has won consistent praise for his voice of “power
and brilliance” (Chicago Tribune) and “considerable flexibility and a communicative presence
enhanced by expressive, crystalline diction.” (Opera News)
Eric’s 2024-2025 season includes performing The Pirate King in Opera Project Columbus’ The
Pirates of Penzance, joining the Memphis Symphony Orchestra in partnership with Opera
Memphis as a soloist in Amadeus: The Music and the Myth, returning to On Site Opera as Dante
for the world premiere of Laura Kaminsky’s Lucidity. He will reprise the role of Dante in his
debut with Seattle Opera. 2025 brings a return to Nashville Opera as Sir Joseph in HMS
Pinafore, appearing as a soloist for Indianapolis Opera’s 50th Anniversary Gala, and making his
debut with Ft. Worth Opera as Alidoro (La cenerentola.)
Last season he reprised his Monterone (while covering Rigoletto) with Opera Delaware and
Opera Baltimore. He also made his Princeton Symphony debut in Mozart’s Requiem, returned to
Opera Columbus as Papa (Papageno) in a re-imagined take on Mozart’s Magic
Flute, entitled The Temple, and made his Opera Memphis debut as Schaunard in La bohème.
During the 2022-2023 season, he joined the Delaware Symphony Orchestra in their Opening
Night at the Grand gala, made his role debut as Don Alfonso in Così Fan Tutte at Opera
Delaware, made his house and role debuts with On Site Opera as the title role in Der Kaiser von
Atlantis and Michele in Il Tabarro, and performed William Still in Paul Moravec’s Sanctuary
Road in his debut with the Penn Square Music Festival. He also returned to Opera Columbus in
his role debut as Monterone in Rigoletto. That summer, he performed Porgy and Bess in concert
in his debut with the Festival Casals de Puerto Rico.
Highlights of recent seasons include performing the title role in Don Giovanni in his return to
Indianapolis Opera, his debut with Teatro Grattacielo as the Banditore (covering Tebaldo) in
Zandonai’s rarely-heard Giulietta e Romeo, covering the title role in On Site Opera’s production
of Gianni Schicchi, performing Leporello with Teatro Grattacielo in their production of Don
Giovanni at the Phoenicia Festival of the Voice, Tonio (Pagliacci) with Salt Marsh Opera,
Germont in Pacific Opera Project’s La traviata, his Anchorage Opera debut as Malatesta (Don
Pasquale), Sharpless in Opera Columbus’ Madama Butterfly, David in Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz
Opera Baltimore, and the Speaker in Florentine Opera’s The Magic Flute.
On the concert stage, he has appeared as Flake in Act II of Die Fledermaus with Maryland
Opera, Beethoven’s 9th with the New Albany Symphony, Bernstein’s Songfest as a guest artist
with Skidmore College, soloist in Dave Brubeck’s The Gates of Justice with the Rhode Island
Civic Chorale and Orchestra, and in concerts with Opera Baltimore, Salt Marsh Opera, Opera on
the James, and Opera Delaware.
Eric can be heard as Charlie/Agent in Kamala Sankaram’s Looking at You, available on the
Bright Shiny Things label and recorded several roles for Experiments in Opera’s Aqua Net and
Funyuns podcast opera.
