Jennifer Check
Celebrated by the New York Times for her “rare talent that can send chills down a listener’s spine even in familiar music,” Jennifer Check returns to the Metropolitan Opera as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Elena in Mefistofele, in addition to joining the company for their productions of Otello and Dialogues des Carmélites in the 2018-19 season. Last season, she made her role debut as Abigaille in Nabucco with Opéra national de Montpellier, sang Fifth Maid in Elektra with Houston Grand Opera and joined the Metropolitan Opera for their productions of Norma and Così fan tutte. Recent performances include: Lady Macbeth in Macbeth (Opéra de Nancy et de Lorraine), Elisabeth in Don Carlos (Caramoor International Music Festival), the title role of Aida and Leonore in Il trovatore (Utah Opera), High Priestess in Aida (Metropolitan Opera), Verdi’s Requiem (Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Philharmonic, Virginia Symphony Orchestra and the Brevard Music Festival), and Elgar’s The Apostles (American Symphony Orchestra), the title role of Ariande auf Naxos (Opéra de Toulon); Iphigenie in Iphigénie en Tauride (Palau de les Artes Reina Sofía); Chrysothemis in Elektra (Michigan Opera Theatre); Lady Macbeth in Macbeth and the title role of Norma (Palm Beach Opera and the Opera Company of Philadelphia); Sirin in The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh (Nederlandse Opera); Madame Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites (Austin Lyric Opera); Blanche de la Force in Dialogues des carmélites (Caramoor International Music Festival); Lady Billows in Albert Herring (Castleton Festival); and Clorinda in La cenerentola (Spoleto Festival U.S.A).
