John Baumgardner

John is engaged in a wide variety of corporate and securities matters and for many years coordinated the investment management area at Sullivan & Cromwell. He is also a member of the Firm’s Financial Services, Investment Management, Broker-Dealer and Commodities, Futures and Derivatives Groups, and has served on a number of corporate and nonprofit boards. He was previously a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell, and is now of counsel with the firm.
An ardent believer in the value of the arts and music as a core benefit to our society, John is a frequent attendee and patron of several performing arts organizations, particularly within classical music. Mr. Baumgardner is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Yale School of Music and on the Board of Directors of OPERA America. He is also a member of the Princeton University Advisory Council for the Department of Politics. Mr. Baumgardner was until August 2012 a director of New York City Opera.
