David Hughey
Lauded by critics as “Golden-toned”, “Honey-voiced”, “First class”, and “Vocally stunning”, David Hughey is quickly gaining notable recognition as one of the world’s most versatile rising stars. From the Broadway stage to the world’s preeminent opera houses and concert halls, this young performer is an intuitive artist whose stage prowess encompasses a variety of genres.
Mr. Hughey made his Broadway debut in the Tony award winning musical “The Gershwins’ Porgy And Bess”, and was most recently seen on Broadway in the hit musical “Waitress”. He was also in the original casts of the 1st National Tours of both the aforementioned. Other credits of note include a feature on the soundtrack of the Academy Award winning film “12 Years A Slave”, and appearances on Live at Lincoln Center. He was also recently featured on the new series “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector” on NBC.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Hughey has also appeared in major opera houses including: San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Virginia Opera, Cleveland Opera and more, in roles from Figaro (Barber of Seville) and Schaunard (La Boheme), to Peter (Hansel and Gretel) and Falke (Die Fledermause).
Mr. Hughey is an alum of both Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and Manhattan School of Music.
