Teryn Kuzma
Ukrainian-American soprano Teryn Kuzma (she/her) is a versatile performer and musician of classical, contemporary, musical theater, and folk repertoire. Her upcoming engagements include premiering the lead role of “H’ala” in Ruinous Gods, an opera by Layale Chaker and Lisa Schlesinger commissioned by Spoleto Festival USA.
Teryn is thrilled to return to On Site Opera covering the role of “Lieschen” in Bach’s Coffee Cantata! This past fall, she covered the role of “Frog/Mechanical Nightingale” in Lisa Despain’s charming opera, Song of the Nightingale. In addition, Teryn competed and was selected as a semifinalist in the Federation of the Art Song Competition, and the Wassyl Slipak Young Vocalists Competition.
Her recent performance credits include the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen, the role of “Celia” in Iolanthe, and the role of “Luisa” in The Fantasticks. Over the past five years, Teryn has been featured in performances with Hartford Opera Theater, Ohio Light Opera, Toronto Summer Music Festival, Berkshire Opera Festival, and the Ukrainian Art Song Project.
In addition to her emerging singing career, Teryn is devoted to maintaining the art of the bandura and Ukrainian music. Recently, Teryn was awarded the role of Concertmaster for the Women’s Bandura Ensemble of North America, and has been working alongside Zoya Shepko to revive the New York Bandura School.
