Claire Coven (she/her), mezzo-soprano, is a second-year undergraduate at the Mannes School of Music studying with William Burden and Cristina Stanescu. This year, Ms. Coven sang Dritter Knabe in Mannes Opera’s production of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, covered Pane in Mannes Opera’s production of Cavalli’s La Calisto, sang in the chorus of Teatro Nuovo’s production of Rossini’s Maometto Secondo, and presented Spanish renaissance motets with the Mannes Sounds Festival.
Previously at Mannes, Ms. Coven has been heard in scenes from The Magic Flute (Third Lady), Idomeneo (Idamante), La Clemenza di Tito (Annio), and Così Fan Tutte (Dorabella), in the choruses of The Fairy Queen and Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, and in Mannes Composition Concerts premiering student works. This summer, Claire is excited to return to Teatro Nuovo as Studio Artist for a second season. A native New Yorker, Claire is a graduate of LaGuardia Arts High School and Mannes Prep, where she studied with Debra Vanderlinde.
